Sporting Events
Spark Arena is an entirely multi-purpose venue, equipped to hold a myriad of indoor sporting events.
With a flat floor of 72m x 38m, we have the space for gymnastics contests, basketball, netball and tennis courts. We store our in-house sprung sports flooring in the building, ready to be laid for Breakers games at sometimes as little as a day's notice. We've also got the facilities to hold portable ice rinks, as seen in 2011 at Canada v USA Ice Hockey, and, of course, Disney on Ice. Naturally we have the ability to control the temperature in the room electronically, to maintain optiumum conditions for all athletes.
In 2013, we were proud to be the host venue for the BMX World Championships, which saw the building filled with literally truckloads of dirt to build the track.
We have 4 separate team dressing rooms, each with toilets and showers, and a large number of smaller rooms to accommodate umpires, hosts and entertainers.
