Stonewood Homes Joseph Parker vs Junior Fa.
Saturday 27 February 2021
A new date has been confirmed for the blockbuster showdown between Joseph Parker and Junior Fa, with the world-ranked Kiwi heavyweights now set to clash on Saturday, 27 February 2021.
All existing general admission tickets and corporate tickets remain valid for the new date.
Previously scheduled for December, the bout was postponed after blood tests revealed Fa was suffering from a health issue that required the highly-rated, undefeated prospect to undergo surgery. The official event Doctor appointed for the Parker v Fa fight night, Dr Dave Renata, yesterday confirmed that Fa’s recent surgery had been successful.
Former WBO champion and current No. 3 contender Parker confirmed he is most definitely looking forward to relieving some pent-up frustration in what will now be a high-summer showdown between the former amateur protagonists.
The biggest fight in New Zealand boxing history, Stonewood Homes Parker vs Fa will see former World Heavyweight Champion Joseph Parker take on current WBO Oriental Interim Heavyweight Title Holder, and unbeaten countryman, Junior Fa.
Parker is ranked third in the WBO world rankings and Fa is ranked sixth. Both South Auckland fighters are aiming for a shot at the WBO world title and the winner of this highly anticipated bout will put them on a trajectory for a World Heavyweight Title shot.
“Parker’s an Auckland born Samoan, Fa an Auckland born Tongan; the fight is taking place in the largest Polynesian city in the world; both fighters are close to and desperate for a title shot; they have a split history in amateur fights, and they are both members of the same Mormon Church. This fight already has everything,” - David Higgins’ Duco Events & Matchroom
