Drug Policy

Spark Arena does not condone the use of drugs. Drug enforcement laws are as applicable inside the venue as anywhere else in New Zealand, and it is, therefore, illegal to buy, sell or possess drugs. All drugs are potentially dangerous, there are no harmless drugs. The only way to avoid risks is to not take drugs at all.

If we find drugs at the gate entry point during a bag search or pat down, then you will be denied entry and may be referred to Police. There are usually amnesty bins at the entry point where drugs can be deposited, doing this will avoid any interaction with Police and you will then enter the venue as normal.

Once inside the venue the use of drugs may result in eviction, and anyone suspected of dealing drugs will be handed to Police.

We still want our patrons to know that you can come to us for help if you or your friends need it, without fear of getting in trouble at any time. Many of our events will have a crowd care area where patrons may be sent if they are showing signs of intoxication.

Always be honest with medics and crown care teams about what you have consumed so that they know how best to help you.

At some of our events the promoter may have decided to contract with Know Your Stuff or another organisation to provide a free drug testing service, this will be situated away from the main crowds and is a legal service in New Zealand.

There may also be drug checking clinics running in the city leading up to the event - see here.

You can also check the High Alert site for any warnings about specific drug types that have been flagged as especially harmful here
